4-week business development challenge
I have a challenge for you.
Over the next 4 weeks, reach out to one person a day during the workweek with whom you have not had contact in at least the past 4 weeks.
No need to talk about business. In fact, I would recommend against it. Ask how they are holding up. What are they doing to keep their sanity? You might learn something about them that you did not know before.
The rules are simple. Reach out to anyone who is important in your network such as an existing client, a prospective client, a referral source, a LinkedIn connection, a peer, or perhaps a competitor.
If you miss a day, make up for it the next day and reach out to two.
Your outreach could be via email, phone, Zoom, LinkedIn message, or a hand-written note. My favorite is calling someone. Leaving a voice message counts.
One a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks. You get the weekends off. Easy!
The time invested is minimal. The reward can be huge. You connect with 20 people who have not heard from you in a while. You can rekindle relationships that may have gone cold. Your contacts will appreciate it!
Have some fun with it! Don't overthink it. Just do it!
